An Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship

© 2008. "Social Entrepreneurship Series" by Ashoka

We have set up a platform to aggregate web-based resources and content on social enterprise and social entrepreneurship, which we provide as a free service. The content, materials and organizations mentioned are not affiliated with us. They are in the public domain and are intended for educational purposes only. We are making this information openly accessible to you to inspire you in unleashing your potential as a catalyst for social change.

According to the Skoll Foundation, a social entrepreneur is an individual who "aims for value in the form of transformational change that will benefit disadvantaged communities and ultimately society at large." Similarly, the Schwab Foundation defines social entrepreneurship as "applying practical, innovative and sustainable approaches to benefit society in general, with an emphasis on those who are marginalized and poor."
